Who wants icecream for morning tea?

Have You Been Caught Out?

The other day I went to my local café for a meeting. As I don’t like coffee, I will usually opt for a herbal tea or a banana smoothie. This day, I felt like a smoothie. So I asked for my usual, Banana smoothie on almond milk (I also don’t really like normal milk). So they don’t think I’m dairy intolerant, I would usually say, happy to have yoghurt in it though, but today I completely forgot.

It arrived, luscious and thick, and tasted even better. I was thinking, Oh My Gosh, I could potentially become their best client, smoothies daily for me!

But then about mid-way through it, something dawned on me. I think it has ice-cream in it. A banana smoothie on almond milk has never tasted this good before. In lure of feeling bad for leaving half a smoothie that had been bought for me, I finished it. And on leaving the café I said, ‘do your smoothies have ice-cream in them’? A resounding, YES! But you can ask for it without if you would like!

So there you have it, I basically had a big bowl of icecream for morning tea. Don’t get me wrong, I quite like ice-cream. But if I’m going to have it, it’s going to be a good quality type, sitting down after dinner enjoying it, or walking along the beach in summer. It’s not going to be, mixed through a smoothie for morning tea without even realising.

It re-iterated that unless we make our own food, we really have no idea what we are eating/drinking. So if you want to be 100% sure what goes in your body, then either ask the question when you are eating out, or cook it yourself.

AND if you get caught out like me and decide to continue drinking the smoothie packed with delicious ice-cream, then enjoy every sip without feeling guilty and just don’t make the same mistake twice.

So the moral of the story – stick to herbal tea when out Amy, and make your own smoothies at home!
