This is my new motto – life IS short and there is no point turning around in 5 years time and wishing you had achieved so much more. So….

In the last week I have done 2 things, a 2km Ocean swim at Coolangatta, and quit sugar!

You may be wondering why I have done these things, and I will explain more below.

Firstly, I want you to think about 1 thing that you aren’t doing right now because you don’t feel confident enough doing it?

Keep that thought!

Why The Cooly Classic 2km Ocean Swim?

Don’t worry I asked myself the same thing as we started driving down to Coolangatta for me to do a late entry and the biggest ocean swim I have ever done!

A few weeks ago one of my clients mentioned the swim to me, and if I would be interested in doing it. I said, sure, I will think about it.

Then I convinced myself of all the reasons why I shouldn’t or couldn’t do it. And then the night before the race, I thought about it again.

I had nothing on the Sunday that I could sue as an excuse not to do it, so I decided to give it a go.

Its part of my new motto –  own your confidence! Get what you truly want in life!

 I finished, I didn’t get eaten by a shark, I didn’t drown, I just put my head under the water and swam.

Yes it was a long way and there were plenty of times I thought about the relaxing Sunday I could be having at home, or the lovely swim and breakfast out I could be having with my husband and daughter.

But this was pushing me outside my comfort zone, it was filling my confidence cup, which means I now know I am stronger than I think and can take on any challenge.

What are you going to do to increase your confidence and ensure that you don’t turn around in 5 years time and wish that you had done more, tried more things, stepped outside your comfort zone or had more self-belief to help you achieve things?

And on that note I have also been thinking…..What makes you buzz and feel alive?

This past week I have been checking in with how I have been feeling, am I operating at my optimum or am I feeling sluggish.

And to be honest the answer is, I’m feeling very sluggish. And I have no real reason to be. I have an almost 1 year old that has slept through since she was 3 months old, I exercise, I eat well and I get 7 hours of sleep most nights.

But when I think back to when I have felt my best, it was when I gave up sugar, dairy, wheat and all processed foods.

Now I’m not about to embark on that journey again 100% but I am going to give the no sugar thing a real go again.

It’s like one of my clients Andy, she whole heartedly did Feb Fast – she couldn’t stop raving about how amazing she felt, ha ha, she couldn’t stop whingeing really  🙂

For  me it wont be as hard as for some people because my sweet treat is 90% dark chocolate, and home made refined sugar free treats.

But I still look for those immediately after each meal, I still crave them and literally don’t stop thinking about a sweet treat until I have had one, sometimes 2 and sometimes 3.

I’m never satisfied really. and there is still the ‘snacking’ I do without really registering. So there is some work to be done.

Now for some people this might not be the thing that makes you feel good. It might be ‘thinking only positive thoughts’ or it might be ‘getting some fresh air during the day’, or maybe its ‘hanging out with good friends and have a big belly laugh’.

Whatever it is, I want you to stop this week and think about yourself and what really makes you buzz.

And then make sure you do more of that, or cut out what’s stopping you today from truly feeling alive.

And always remember, you miss out on 100% of chances that you didn’t take!!!
